Cross-country skiing
Staying active in the winter isn’t always easy. For some of us, it’s tempting to stay in, cuddle up. But thanks to the Physical Education lessons at WMS, cross country skiing can be a new pastime for the beautiful winter months.
Luckily this year we are able to utilize the 50+ pairs of cross country skis that WMS purchased for our students. Now that we have a great amount of snow the skis are in great use.
And just think of the benefits! Cross-country skiing boasts a wide array of benefits for your physical and mental health.
Maria Montessori was an advocate for children health and exposure to nature. Here’s why you should strap on some skis and spend your winter gliding through frozen forests and snow-covered Montessori trails:
- Cross-country skiing will give you cardio exercise
- Cross-country skiing is a challenging workout that engages muscles all over your body. Using poles works your shoulders and triceps, while also activating your core and legs.
- Outdoor exercise has a positive effect on your mood. All your worries are relieved within minutes of exposure to nature.
- AND IT’S FUN!!!!! Cross-country skiing is a great activity for you and your friends and family. Spending time being active outdoors will allow you to bond and connect with each other and the outdoors.
