Saint Andrew’s day
A world of magic, spells and fortune-telling, that is, Andrzejki in our school.
Friday, November 25th at our school, we went under the spell of fortune telling and fairy games. The opening of Saint Andrew’s day attractions was a presentation explaining the meaning of this holiday in the past and today.
The presentation was followed by many fun games and attractions such as: line of shoes, pin the heart, coin throwing and who will I be in the future. The day of fortune-telling was extensive and rich, and everyone wanted to fortune-tell something special.
According to old beliefs, the night of St. Andrew’s had magical power, allowing a glimpse over the shoulder into the future. Today, St. Andrew’s Day is all about fun. Few believe in the power of fortune-telling, which in modern times has taken the form of an add-on to dance parties. However, there are those for whom Andrews’ divination is first and foremost a tradition. St. Andrew’s Day games and divination are held almost all over Europe.
